Some moments stay with you long after the music fades. This painting was born from one of those moments — a live performance by Nicole Izobel Garcia of Manos Del Chango at the Hawke's Bay Art Festival, a night that left me completely spellbound.
Unable to find their music on Spotify, I turned to YouTube, watching concert footage again and again — and somewhere between the sound and the screen, a sketch began to take shape. That sketch became this painting.
